Tuesday’s Footy Tips: 5th April
All eyes will be on the Champions League matches tonight but the lower leagues in England and Scotland look more likely to offer up some profit for us punters.
Here’s three games where I think it’ll be worth having a punt…
Leyton Orient v Plymouth
The O’s have suffered a serious dip in form in recent weeks but I expect that they’ll bounce back at home to bottom of the table Plymouth and they look a reasonable price to do so.
Prior to their recent winless run Orient were the form team in England but in they’ve not won in four and taken a few tankings in the process but the good news is that they’ve still been scoring goals in defeat. That gives me hope that they’ll land odds of 4/5 and get back to winning ways against a club that seems to lurch from one crisis to the next. Bottom of League One and rumours of unpaid wages, Plymouth look a bit of a shambles and should be oposed every day of the week.
Partick Thistle v Falkirk
These two meet for the fifth time this season with Thistle having the upperhand so far . Their two wins have been 1-0 home wins and I expect tonight will be another narrow victory.
Surprisingly, Thistle have the best home defence in Britain, conceding just 8 goals in 14 games at Firhill. They’ve not scored too many at home either though so goals could be hard to come by tonight, especially when you consider they’ve not scored in their last 4. Falkirk aren’t much better in front of goal, with 8 in their last 8. Under 2.5 goals is on the cards.
Clyde v Montrose
Despite being bottom of the Third Division, Clyde are a much improved site since the arrival of Jim Duffy as boss. They play host to 2nd bottom Montrose, whom they beat 2-0 a couple of weeks ago. This is a game Clyde must win if they’re to avoid the embarrassment of being bottom by the end of the season so the motivation is there.
Clyde went down 1-0 to second placed Annan at the weekend but by all accounts were unlucky to lose it, having proven that they were capabe of mixing it with better sides when the beat the same side 2-0 the week before. At 11/10 and with home advantage at what will be a blustery Broadwood Stadium Clyde look a decent option tonight.
