Newport Tennis Odds preview and Tips
The Newport Tennis Odds have John Isner and Grigor Dimitrov as the two favourites for the final grass court event of the year.
This ATP event never attracts a strong field, and is usually tough for the top seeds, but the grass courts on Rhode Island do provide more authentic fare frankly than Wimbledon.
11/4 John Isner, 4/1 Grigor Dimitrov, 9/2 Ivo Karlovic, 7/1 Olivier Rochus, 14/1 Igor Kunitsyn, 16/1 Alex Bogomolov Jr, 18/1 Nicolas Mahut, 20/1 Bar
So finally, a week of actual grass court tennis. Quick courts, the serve prominent but not completely dominant and players actually trying that curiously old fashioned tactic, the serve and volley. American giant John Isner is the top seed here, with the 610 player the possessor of a giant serve, and of course, albatrossian reach. Isner has been given a kind draw here, with a straightforward looking section. First opponent Karol Beck could be tricky, but Isners booming game should really sweep him through to the final, even though no top seed has won here.
Grigor Dimitrov has been a highly touted player for a while now, and is seeded 2 here. He may finally have made the breakthrough in his fine match with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The trouble is that he should run into the hulking Ivo Karlovic in the second round and the big ace machine will be a difficult opponent for anyone during the week. The bottom half of the draw also includes Olivier Rochus, who has a good history here, wild card Tommy Haas and Israeli Dudi Sela, who has been racking up wis for fun on the Challenger Tour.
The event also has British interest, with both Alex Bogdanovic and Richard Bloomfield coming through qualifying. Bogdanovic is looking for his first tour win in more than two years againsst 8th seed Tobias Kamke, and Bloomfield faces Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France.
The way the draw has come out with most of the dangerous players at the bottom means top seed John Isner must be backed at 11/4 use our link and Stan James will give you a free £25 bet!
