WSOP Deals Romantic Fairytale as Moutinho and Sands Survive
The World Series of Poker is usually renowned for its dramatic poker hands and giant-killing feats but is rarely known for dishing up a romantic fairytale. This year is an exception though as one couple have battled through to the last 58 players and both still remain in with a chance of taking home the first place prize of $8.71m. David Sands and Erika Moutinho are currently dating and both are still in the thick of the action as the 2011 WSOP Main Event enters its final few days.Currently, Ryan Lenaghan leads the field with 12,865,000 chips with 2011 WSOP bracelet winner Ben Lamb not far behind him in second place with 9,980,000 chips. After those two the hunting pack is pretty closely grouped.Sands is currently in 29th position holding 2,765,000 chips whilst his partner in love, crime and poker, Erika Moutinho is in 40th place with 2,075,000 chips.Very few big names remain in this year’s Main Event with a number of lesser known players stamping their mark on proceedings. Las Vegas poker professional Phil Collins looked set to be the man who was going to be the one to beat as he eliminated former November Nine participant Joseph Cheong but he has slipped back slightly and remains waiting in the wings. He is still very much in contention and the one player that the leading pack is very aware of.Only 58 players remain and with the stakes rising as every player is eliminated, the next couple of days are set to be key in deciding who qualifies for the November Nine Main Event Final Table. With Moutino and Sands still in the race there is still every chance this romantic tale has a long way to go.
