Week 4 NFL Schedule & Point Spreads
Week 4 NFL Schedule & Point Spreads: The so-called “Dream Team” hasn’t exactly gotten off to the start everyone envisioned when the Philadelphia Eagles were signing all those big names to the roster. If you thought that things were bad before, after a 1-1 start, you better think again, because they’re about to get worse for the demanding Philly fans!
For the second consecutive week, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been hit hard, time and time again, as opposing defenses appear to be going after No. 7. In last week’s loss to the NFC East rival New York Giants, Vick was once again knocked around, thus, suffering a broken hand… or so they thought!
According to various reports, the Eagles signal-caller was expected to miss anywhere from 3-4 weeks due to a broken right hand. On Monday morning, head coach Andy Reid told the media that it appears Vick didn’t have anything fractured only a bruise. The coach said that it appeared that there was a “blood vessel sitting over the bone, [which] made it look like theres a fracture.”
Nevertheless, Vick’s status for Week 4 remains uncertain at this point, which has driven the Eagles to begin pointing fingers and have made serious accusations against the NFL and its referees. According to Reid and his quarterback, NFL refs aren’t giving Vick the same type of protection and courtesy that every other QB in the league seems to get week in and week out.
“I was trying to protect myself,” Vick said after the loss to the G-Men. “Still didnt get a flag and thats pretty much been the story for the last three weeks. I mean, obviously at some point, something catastrophic is going to happen and I broke my hand … Looking at the replays, Im on the ground every time, and Id be lying if I said I wasnt frustrated.
“The refs have got to do their jobs. And I mentioned it to the refs in training camp when I talked to them. Im on the ground constantly, all the time. Every time I throw the ball, Im on the ground. And I dont know why I dont get the 15-yard flags like everybody else does.”
According to Reid, the idea that refs might be picking, or better yet, neglecting Vick’s well being is nothing new. Last season, the Eagles’ 12th-year head coach lashed out. Reid publicly criticized refs for what he sees as a lack of consideration for his QB. Speaking to reporters, Reid said:
“I see the same thing youre seeing and it bothers me. He does run, but hes still the quarterback and you cant treat him like hes a running back there [in the pocket]. Thats not what the rules state.”
The Eagles’ next game will be at home against the visiting San Francisco 49ers. If Vick isn’t able to go, the Eagles would start fourth round pick, Mike Kafka. We will continue to follow all the developments surrounding this story and will post NFL Week 4 Point Spreads for this game the moment they become available.
