Praz Bansi Wins London Leg of GUKPT 2011

London-based Praz Bansi has won the GUKPT London on Sunday, pocketing the first prize of £101,020 at the Victoria Casino.

The 32-year-old, poker professional from Hounslow, who already owns a GUKPT title after winning the inaugural event in Bolton 2007, beat a field of 245 to pick up Leg 2 or this year’s Tour.

Praz started yesterday’s main event as chip leader with a 1.28 million stack, with a clear lead over nearest rival Gary Lindsay on 842k. He continued to build his chiplead and after a challenging heads-up battle with German pro Manig Loeser, took his second GUKPT title.

Praz Bansi is a member of The Hitsquad, a five-strong team of poker professionals in London. They share strategies and test each other and between them they have earned over $6 million in tournament winnings in just over five years.

The tour now moves onto Walsall, where Leg 3 of the 2011 GUKPT will take place on the 24 April at the Grosvenor Casino.
